Maytag F8 E2 reports a dispenser-system problem on select front-load washers. Maytag directs owners to check the detergent drawer or cartridge for detergent buildup and provides a drawer-cleaning procedure.
Remove Residue Without Damaging the Drawer
Turn the washer off. Pull the drawer to its stop, release it as shown in the model instructions, and lift off only the removable cover or inserts. Wash those parts in warm, soapy water with a mild detergent, rinse, and dry them before reassembly. Maytag says the dispenser is not dishwasher-safe.
Reassemble in the Correct Order
- Return siphon caps and compartment covers to their matching positions.
- Align the drawer with its guides instead of pushing at an angle.
- Close the drawer completely.
- Wipe spilled product from the front and check for leaks during the next cycle.
Do not drill or enlarge dispenser openings. Do not use boiling water or harsh solvent on plastic parts.
Keep Monthly Cleaning Separate From the Fault
Maytag also recommends regular washer cleaning to control residue. That maintenance can prevent buildup, but a Clean Washer cycle is not a substitute for fixing a dispenser that is leaking or a code that returns after the drawer is clean.
When F8 E2 Needs Service
The code does not name a specific failed component. If the drawer is clean, correctly assembled, and fully closed but F8 E2 returns, a pump, sensor, wiring, or control may require diagnosis. Stop using the machine if water or detergent enters the cabinet.
Record which dispenser compartment still contains product after the attempt. Unevenly retained detergent, softener, or bleach is useful evidence for Maytag support and avoids treating every dispensing symptom as the same blockage.
