F0 E2 on a supported Whirlpool top-load washer means the machine detected excessive suds. The load may be incompletely rinsed or retain water because foam interferes with normal spinning and draining.
Let the Washer Finish Its Response
A suds condition can add rinsing and reduce spin speed. Do not add more detergent or try to shorten the routine by repeatedly canceling it. If the cycle completes but clothing is still soapy, Whirlpool indicates that a Rinse & Spin cycle may be useful after the detergent cause has been corrected.
Find the Product Cause
- Use only HE detergent when the model requires it.
- Measure for the load and soil level instead of filling to a habitual line.
- Account for concentrated detergent; a smaller volume may be required.
- Do not use thickened โno splashโ or โeasy pourโ bleach where the manual warns it can create suds.
Seeing little foam does not mean more detergent is needed. High-efficiency washers are designed to clean with low water and controlled sudsing.
F0 E2 Versus a Drain Fault
Foam can leave clothing wet and extend the cycle, symptoms that resemble a drain problem. First correct dosing and run a clean-water rinse. If clear water still will not drain or the pump makes an abnormal noise, move to the drainage path rather than continuing detergent changes.
When to Request Help
Service is appropriate when F0 E2 returns with verified HE detergent and conservative dosing, or when the washer cannot remove water after the suds have cleared. Do not open the cabinet to inspect the pressure system or pump based on the code alone.
