A washer flow sensor measures water moving into the appliance on designs that use one. The control compares that feedback with the fill it requested. A missing or implausible signal can trigger a model-specific fault even when some water is visibly entering.
Flow, pressure, and level answer different questions

Why a flow fault does not name the failed part
A closed valve, blocked inlet screen, kinked hose, low household pressure, wiring issue, or sensor problem can all affect what the control observes. Bosch E28/F28 is one official example of a flow-sensor fault, but other brands use different codes and may not use the same sensor design.
External evidence to collect
- Confirm required household valves are fully open.
- Inspect accessible supply hoses for crushing or sharp bends.
- Check whether hot, cold, or both selections are affected.
- Record the time from Start to the alert and the amount of water entering.
- Photograph the exact code and model label.
Turn off water and power before cleaning an inlet screen, and do so only when the manufacturer lists it as user maintenance.
Service-safe boundary
Flow sensors sit in a water path and connect to the control electrically. Incorrect reassembly can leak, and live testing combines water with electrical risk. Do not spin a sensor by hand, backfeed it, or apply external voltage. A repeat fault after verified household supply and hose checks needs model-specific diagnosis.
Flow, pressure, and valve action are not interchangeable
A flow sensor or flow meter reports movement of incoming water on models equipped with one. A pressure or level sensor answers a different question: how the washer interprets water level. The inlet valve opens the path, while household pressure supplies the force. A restriction can therefore affect the sensorโs reading without proving that the sensor itself is defective.
Safe observations include whether both wall valves are open, inlet hoses are kinked, and user-accessible inlet screens are clean when the manufacturer authorizes cleaning. Do not energize a removed valve or probe a live sensor. If an exact flow-sensor code persists after the documented external checks, use the model-specific service path.
