Avoid a wrong diagnosis
Less visible water is not by itself a fault. GE says modern washers vary the water level with load type and absorbency.
Do not manually pour water into the basket to defeat sensing. Use the model’s Deep Fill option only where the manual allows it.
If water enters and immediately leaves, focus on drain-hose installation rather than the sensing label.
Treat the outcome as a decision point. Normal operation after a corrected load, hose, detergent, or supply condition supports that external cause. The same code with normal operating conditions points back to the model-specific sensing or control path. Do not expand the test into panel removal simply because the easy checks were inconclusive.
Check the exact model before going further
GE changed fill designs over time. Older positive-pressure systems and newer timed-fill controls are diagnosed differently, so locate the model number before assuming which system is installed.
