Samsung lists E2, bE2, and 6E2 as jammed-button errors on supported washers. The control believes a button is stuck or being pressed continuously. The safe inspection is limited to the outside of the panel.
Read the Characters Carefully
Seven-segment displays can make a lower-case “b” resemble a 6 or 8. Samsung also warns that bE2/8E2 is model-dependent: on some models it is a jammed-button error, while on others it belongs to the MEMS sensor group. Check the owner’s manual before treating an 8E2-looking display as a panel problem.
External Button Check
- Power the washer off.
- Look for a button held down by residue, a protective film, or a nearby object.
- Touch each button individually and release it. Samsung suggests working each button gently across its edges.
- Wipe the dry exterior with a soft cloth. Do not spray cleaner into the console.
A button should move or respond consistently with neighboring controls. Do not pry off a key cap, insert a blade around it, or remove the console. Moisture behind the panel and damaged switch electronics are service-level conditions.
Power Cycle or Reset?
After the external check, restore power and start a normal selection. This is a restart of the control, not a manufacturer procedure that repairs a physical switch. If the same key remains unresponsive or the code appears before any button is touched, repeated restarts add little information.
When Service Is Needed
Samsung directs users to service when a button is damaged or the code returns after power is restored. Leave the washer off if the control starts cycles by itself, multiple buttons respond incorrectly, or liquid entered the console. A technician can test the user-interface assembly and wiring without bypassing safety functions.
