On Samsung AddWash models, ddC or dC3 means the separate Add Door is not detected as closed and locked. This is narrower than the usual dC code for the main washer door. Identify which door the display refers to before applying any check.
Main Door Versus Add Door
The Add Door is the smaller access door built into the main front door on supported washers. Samsung’s ddC/dC3 guidance is about that small door and its latch. A washer without AddWash hardware should be checked against its own manual because the same-looking characters may have another meaning.
Close the Add Door Safely
- Pause the cycle and wait until the washer indicates that opening is allowed.
- Do not open any door while water is visible above the safe level or the drum is moving.
- Inspect the Add Door edge for fabric, a drawstring, detergent residue, or a small item caught at the seal.
- Remove the obstruction and close the Add Door until it latches normally.
- Resume only when both doors sit flush and the code clears.
Do not slam the Add Door or push on it with tools. Forcing a misaligned latch can damage the door and defeat its water-sealing function.
If the Code Returns
Look for visible damage to the Add Door, hinge, latch, or surrounding seal. Stop using the washer if water leaks from the door area. A power cycle may restart the control after the door is correctly secured, but it does not repair a bent latch or faulty switch.
Service Boundary
Samsung recommends service when the code cannot be corrected or the door/latch is damaged. The lock sensor and wiring are inside the door assembly. Do not dismantle the main door, bypass the latch, or run the washer while holding the Add Door closed.
