LG Washer-Dryer Combo dHE Code: Dry Function Error

On supported LG washer-dryer combo models, dHE is a dry-function error. LG describes it as a temporary drying-function problem and provides a short power-off check. The โ€œdโ€ matters: dHE should not be presented as the same display as HE, and it should not be generalized to wash-only LG machines.

Confirm That the Appliance Has a Dry Function

Start with the model label and control panel. A combination unit can wash and dry in the same drum; a standard front-load washer cannot. If a wash-only machine appears to show dHE, compare the characters with the ownerโ€™s manual because seven-segment displays can be misread.

Note when the code appeared. A display during or shortly after a drying phase supports the dry-function context. It does not identify a specific heater, sensor, fan, or circuit as failed. Those possibilities require model-specific diagnostics.

What You Can Safely Do

  1. Stop the program and let the drum come to rest.
  2. Turn the combo off and disconnect power.
  3. Follow LGโ€™s documented brief wait, then restore power.
  4. Turn the unit on and select an appropriate program only after confirming there is no water leak, burning smell, or unusual heat.

This is a power cycle, not a repair procedure. Do not remove panels to inspect a heater, fan, thermal device, wiring, or control board. Do not keep restarting a combo that becomes abnormally hot.

dHE Versus HE

The existing LG HE topic covers a heater error. dHE is scoped to the drying function described in LGโ€™s front-load and combo support material. Keeping the two meanings separate prevents a combo owner from following washing-heater advice or a washer owner from assuming the machine has a dryer fault.

Stop Conditions

Close the water tap and leave the appliance unplugged if dHE returns, as LG directs. Immediate service is also appropriate when there is smoke, a hot electrical odor, repeated breaker trips, or scorching. Even without those warning signs, a recurring dHE code has crossed the homeowner-level troubleshooting boundary.
