On supported LG washer-dryer combo models, dHE is a dry-function error. LG describes it as a temporary drying-function problem and provides a short power-off check. The “d” matters: dHE should not be presented as the same display as HE, and it should not be generalized to wash-only LG machines.
Confirm That the Appliance Has a Dry Function
Start with the model label and control panel. A combination unit can wash and dry in the same drum; a standard front-load washer cannot. If a wash-only machine appears to show dHE, compare the characters with the owner’s manual because seven-segment displays can be misread.
Note when the code appeared. A display during or shortly after a drying phase supports the dry-function context. It does not identify a specific heater, sensor, fan, or circuit as failed. Those possibilities require model-specific diagnostics.
What You Can Safely Do
- Stop the program and let the drum come to rest.
- Turn the combo off and disconnect power.
- Follow LG’s documented brief wait, then restore power.
- Turn the unit on and select an appropriate program only after confirming there is no water leak, burning smell, or unusual heat.
This is a power cycle, not a repair procedure. Do not remove panels to inspect a heater, fan, thermal device, wiring, or control board. Do not keep restarting a combo that becomes abnormally hot.
dHE Versus HE

Stop Conditions

Even without those warning signs, a recurring dHE code has crossed the homeowner-level troubleshooting boundary.
