Samsung groups 4C2, 4E2, CE, 14C2, and nF1 as hot/cold supply errors. The washer is detecting water from the cold supply that is extremely hot. Samsung’s documented cause is reversed inlet hoses: the cold supply is connected to the hot inlet and the hot supply to the cold inlet.
Why This Is Different From 4C
A standard Samsung 4C or 4E code means water is not entering correctly. The added “2” changes the intent. With 4C2/4E2, the issue is supply temperature and hose routing rather than simply low or absent flow. Keeping these pages separate prevents users from cleaning screens while leaving the hoses crossed.
Check the Connections
- Stop the washer and close both household water valves.
- Disconnect power before working behind the appliance.
- Trace each hose from the household valve to the labeled washer inlet. Do not rely only on hose color if the hoses have been replaced.
- Connect the cold supply to the washer’s cold inlet and the hot supply to the hot inlet.
- Tighten the couplings according to the installation instructions, reopen the valves slowly, and check for drips.
Move the washer only if it can be done without straining the drain hose or power cord. If the valves are corroded, leaking, or difficult to close, stop and have the plumbing corrected first.
What the Code Does Not Prove
4C2 does not by itself prove that a temperature sensor or inlet valve is defective. Reversed hoses are the manufacturer’s first explanation. If the routing is correct, confirm the household cold tap actually supplies cold water and that a mixing valve or recirculation problem is not sending hot water to the cold line.
Service Boundary
Samsung states that this code normally does not require service when the hoses are reversed. Request help if the code returns with verified connections and normal supply temperatures. Do not open the washer to test the inlet valve or temperature-sensing circuit.
