Transit bolts hold a Bosch washerโs drum in place during shipping and must be removed before the first wash. Running the appliance with the transport lock installed can cause severe banging and vibration because the suspended drum cannot move as designed.
Use the installation instructions for the E-Nr
Bosch washers can differ in bolt location, number, spacers, caps, and tool size. Find the modelโs installation guide from the E-Nr rather than assuming every rear bolt is part of the transport lock. Disconnect power and close the water valves before working behind the machine.
Removal principles
- Keep the washer upright and stable with enough room to reach the rear safely.
- Remove the transport bolts and their sleeves or spacers in the sequence shown in the guide.
- Install the supplied hole caps if the instructions require them.
- Store every bolt and spacer together for a future move.
- Recheck supply and drain hoses for kinks before sliding the washer back.
Do not lie the washer on its side or reach behind it while another person can push it.
Leveling still matters after removal
Removing the bolts frees the suspension; it does not level the cabinet. Adjust the feet on a solid floor as the manual describes, lock the adjustment nuts, and confirm the washer does not rock at opposite top corners. A soft platform or unstable pedestal can still create movement.
If a cycle already ran with the bolts installed
Stop using the washer, remove the transport hardware correctly, and inspect for visible hose, cabinet, or door damage. A loud first cycle does not prove damage occurred, but continued noise, scraping, leaking, or a drum that sits abnormally requires Bosch service before another high-speed spin. Do not open the cabinet to inspect suspension parts.
Preserve the hardware after installation
Transit bolts secure the moving wash assembly for shipping. A newly installed washer that shakes severely from its first use deserves an installation check before repeated high-speed spins. Compare the rear of the appliance with the installation diagram because the number and appearance of shipping pieces vary.
Disconnect power and follow the model instructions for removal; do not loosen unrelated rear-panel fasteners. Install any supplied hole covers and store the transport hardware for a future move. Removing the bolts does not replace leveling: after the shipping restraints are out, all feet must still be stable on a suitable floor.
