A pedestal changes the washer’s height and can make small installation errors more noticeable. Samsung instructs owners to level the pedestal or riser first, then level the washer on top. Some vibration can still be expected on a raised base, but walking, repeated impact, or a cabinet that rocks needs correction.
Start below the washer
The floor must be solid, dry, and stable. A pedestal cannot compensate for flexing boards, soft carpet, or damaged flooring. Confirm the base is the compatible type and is secured according to its installation instructions before adjusting the appliance above it.
Keep the feet short and locked
Samsung recommends the shortest practical leveling-foot extension. All corners should make firm contact, and front-load locking nuts must be tightened against the cabinet. Leave the required clearance from walls and the neighboring dryer so normal movement does not become contact noise.
Test with a representative load
- Remove shipping bolts from a newly installed front loader.
- Balance mixed items rather than washing one absorbent piece.
- Run a small normal load after each leveling correction.
- Do not hold or push the cabinet while it is spinning.
When the base is not the whole problem
Service is appropriate if an empty Rinse & Spin still produces severe vibration on a verified solid, level installation. Stop the washer if the pedestal shifts, fasteners loosen, or the machine contacts other appliances. Internal suspension and counterweight work should not be attempted through an energized or unsupported cabinet.
Model and observation notes
A riser can be level while the washer above it still rocks, and the reverse can also occur. Test both interfaces with power off. Check that pedestal drawers are closed and their contents cannot strike the frame during spin. If the installation was recently moved, verify that all mounting hardware specified for the pedestal is present; do not substitute general screws. A vibration mat is not a cure for loose attachment or a flexible floor and may change the approved installation. The goal is a rigid stack with short, locked feet, adequate clearance, and a load that can distribute—not simply a level reading on the washer’s top panel.
